The Tribune Tavern, located in the historic Tribune Tower, is definitely on my favorites list of great restaurants in Oakland! That’s why I’m delighted that the Tribune Tavern is hosting a fundraiser for my campaign this Sunday, June 29, from 2:00 to 4:00 p.m.
There are so many stories of hope, vision and dreams around the Tribune Tower. One of my favorites really did happen in March 1923: The amazing magician Harry Houdini wowed onlookers by hanging nine stories above 13th Street from the Tribune Tower while it was still being built. Incredibly, he freed himself from straightjacket in five seconds while dangling so precariously up in the air!
Now I can’t promise any magic tricks, political or otherwise, during Sunday’s event. But I can guarantee that there won’t be any smoke and mirrors when I’m working for you on the Oakland City Council. If you believe in transparency and working together, then join me on Sunday.
While Houdini was the master of illusion, my motto is to speak clearly and listen powerfully. I keep my promises, and I won’t disappear when making the tough decisions our Council leaders must make for safer neighborhoods, stronger businesses, good jobs, great schools and a bright future.
If you can’t come to the event, will you still make a donation to show your support to the campaign?
Thank you and I hope to see you the Tribune Tavern on Sunday!
